About
Kilkenny Lundy School of Irish dance
The Kilkenny School of Irish Dance was established by Sean Kilkenny, TCRG, in The Hague, Netherlands in 2002. In 2016 Laura Lundy TCRG joined as assistant teacher and the school is now known as Kilkenny Lundy School of Irish Dance. Our school is registered and certified with the Commission of Irish Dancing, the oldest and largest worldwide organization, which regulates and promotes the highest standards of dance education.
The school consists of Dutch alongside numerous other nationalities who have fallen for the music and rhythm of modern day Irish Dance. Students are trained with professional guidance on a one to one basis so that they can reach their competitive goals, hence small class size. Dancers share a passion for dance and strive to constantly improve their technique. The school may be small in pure numbers, but it has nurtured a high number of European Champions, World Qualifiers and World medal holders. This year has seen the highest number of 10 dancers who have qualified to compete at the World Championships in Montreal.
The dancers not only enjoy the competitive side, but also LOVE to perform. We perform annually at the St Patrick’s Day Festival in the Grote Markt, Den Haag but we are the perfect option for your special event be it either at a street, a community or a corporate event. A highlight in 2022 was when we got to perform alongside the Dutch Royal National Ballet to celebrate their 6o year anniversary in a production called “In The Future”, by Hans van Manen.
Our teachers and Senior dancers are available to give once off workshops where the basic steps are taught in a group setting called Ceili or Team dances. This is particularly popular with both Basis and Middlebare Schools
